Terminological awareness
My PhD research focused on terminological awareness in healthcare communication. – I wanted to find the best way to increase effectiveness in English provider-patient communication. I have explored all the problems healthcare providers need to solve when they meet patients from different countries and try to communicate in English.
I found that WHAT WORDS (medical terms) you use and HOW you use them can increase effectiveness, safety, timeliness, and quality of patient care.
And I created a methodology that helps healthcare providers actually improve this skill.
Personalized learning
I believe you can improve the best if we articulate your specific language needs and focus on reaching your goals in the most effective way possible. We start with a private meeting online and plan how we’ll work together – be it one or two occasions, a few weeks, or more months – based on your needs.
Online, efficiently, in a friendly cooperation.
Optimization
Ever since I was a little girl, I just loved systems and structures. I admire languages due to their beautiful logic.
During my PhD studies, I got familiarized with the functioning of complex dynamic systems and how they function with optimal minimum. When it comes to teaching language, I also aim to find the optimal minimum effort necessary for my students to increase the effectiveness of their learning. (Beware: optimal minimum is not necessarily little effort; sometimes it is huge efforts toward reaching a goal, but in those cases, that is the optimum.)
Effectiveness
I know your time is precious. I know you work a lot and you work hard. I know you always aim for more, to be better. So, if you ask for my help to improve in English, I will make sure that I help you in the shortest time possible, and together, we will find methods and strategies that help you reach your goals in the most effective way possible.
15+ years of experience
My journey in teaching English and Latin began in 2006, during my university years. I was drawn to the intimate nature of private classes, where I could delve into the unique cognitive processes of each student. This fascination with understanding how individuals think and learn when using foreign languages has been a driving force in my teaching. I always focus on identifying the methods and strategies that help my students realize their full potential.
When I started working at Semmelweis University in 2010, I felt I had found my place as a medical language teacher. Teaching medical English means always learning about new topics, so I never get bored with my work. Whenever I create new materials for my students or proofread a scientific article, I greatly expand my knowledge and enjoy the process.
One of the aspects that I find most thrilling about teaching medical English is the constant evolution of the language. It’s a field that never stands still. Terms change, new ones are created, and the way medical concepts are communicated to the world is always in flux. This dynamism keeps me on my toes and fuels my passion for teaching medical English.
It’s nearly impossible to list all the specialized topics for which I’ve developed materials, the ones in which I’ve assisted my students in articulating their thoughts, or the scientific articles from diverse fields I’ve proofread over the years. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to delve into your specific field and assist you in enhancing your English skills for those crucial moments when you need it most.
Coherence
Finding structure in all parts of life is my hobby. When it comes to texts, this is an advantage. I love exploring the hidden structures in any text and how they are realized with language. When I proofread any scientific publication or any text, I don’t just look at grammar mistakes, but I evaluate the text as a whole beautiful structure. For instance, I consider the flow of ideas, the coherence of the argument, and the balance of information. I find the best ways to improve the sentences to make them clearer and nicer – while maintaining the original meaning the writer of the text wanted to convey.
This is something AI can’t do. AI is looking for general patterns used by the majority of writers, but it cannot always understand you by seeing the hidden structures. Trust me, you need an experienced human eye for that!
